Silver Flute

Ever since Bette started to play the flute in 4th grade, music has been an important part of her life. She studied privately until she graduated from high school. Throughout the years she has continued her studies and played in various community bands and orchestras. She did put the flute down for long periods of time but continued to feel the need to pick it back up, study privately and participate in community groups or share her  gift with senior care communities.

In 2014, she decided it was time to pick it back up and continue the journey. She initially joined a Irish music session. Eventually a band evolved out of the session which was called Aine and Bette played with them until November 2018. She also played with two talented guitar players in duos called Windstrum and Sound Tapestry. Neither of these are active any longer. Bette had a wonderful opportunity to play with Arvel Bird and his wife Kimberly at a recent Summer Solstice Flute School during the Stars Performance Night. A link to a video taken with her cell phone is shown below.

Bette joined Payson’s Community Band this fall and the band had its debut performance in December 2018. It is so much fun to play concert band music again.
